The movie was not a success when it came out. But the movie is significant in that Dorothy Stratten was murdered before the movie came out. Dorothy had moved in with the movies director, Peter Bogdanovich, and had started divorce proceedings.

She met with Paul Snider at their old home to discuss the divorce on August 14 1980. By 11 pm that night both were found dead. After, no one would release the movie. Bogdanovich bought the negatives and released the movie on its own.
